Front Horns
I've done a few versions of front horns, all somewhat similar to / inspired by other projects.
Prior attempts
A big round one, made from sheet metal, with the mouth mounted on a big MDF baffle. The metal part took a 25cm (10") driver, and was 80cm across the mouth - similar to an AH-204, (pictured). It was an experiment I didn't like, possibly because I was using a driver with higher Qts than is appropriate.
Ply horn, with fixed / curved walls (like volvotreter's midbass horns and many others). Again, an experiment I didn't like, possibly because I was using a high Qts driver.
Laminated stacked rings for compression driver (like Vincent's construction technique, but I cut mine from a square block, as covered here). Mouth is 40cm by 40cm, good for a 500Hz crossover (B&C DE950 driver, electrical 4th order).
This pic is of the project at testing stage (about 80% finished). Laminated mostly from ply & pine. This construction method is great for using up scraps and pieces. Often when I see renovation work going on, or shops being refitted, I'm tempted to collect old floorboards and similar scraps to build another pair of these.
Even really ragged old timber could make nice looking blochorns - chips, cracks and nail holes etc could simply be filled in, or positioned away from the face of the cutout. The negative aspects are:

- the time required for construction is pretty high
- noisy and messy job - constantly making sawdust
- weight - a 500Hz horn is easy enoough to move, but going lower would require a very heavy horn
